When are property taxes due?
In Nakusp the Property Tax Due Date is July 4, 2017
Property Tax Notices are mailed out during the third week of May and are due each year on the first business day in July. While payment is made in the middle of the year, it covers the time period of January 1 to December 31 of the current year.
Any unpaid 2017 taxes will be subject to a ten percent penalty levied after July 4, 2017. Outstanding amounts that are not paid due to Home Owner Grants not being claimed are subject to the same penalties.
How are municipal property tax rates calculated?

These factors establish the amount of municipal taxes paid per $1,000 of assessed value for each class of property.

The municipal portion of your property tax bill includes municipal property taxes and utility charges that are controlled and set by the municipality.
Taxes levied by other government agencies are also included on your tax notice and are not controlled by the municipality. These agencies include the Municipal Finance Authority, BC Assessment, Regional District of Central Kootenay, Hospitals, and the Provincial Government (School Tax).
