2025 Property Tax Sale

Under Part 16 of the Local Government Act, the following properties will be offered for sale by public auction to be held MONDAY, September 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Village of Nakusp Office at 91- 1st Street NW, Nakusp, BC, unless the delinquent taxes plus interest are paid before that time.
The lowest amount for which the parcel may be sold is the Upset Price, which includes delinquent, arrears, and current taxes plus interest and penalties to the date of sale, Administration fees and Land Title fees.
Payment of the Upset Price (by cash or certified cheque) must be remitted immediately. If the purchase price is above the Upset price, the purchaser must pay the balance by 1:00 pm on the tax sale date. If payment is not remitted, the Collector again offers the property for sale.

  • The highest bidder at or above the upset price shall be declared the purchaser. If no bids are received, the Village will be declared the purchaser.
  • The purchaser has no legal rights to the property until one (1) year from the date of the Tax Sale.
  • The owner has one year in which to redeem the property; paying back the upset price, plus accrued interest on the purchase price to the date of redemption.
  • At redemption, the purchaser is paid back the purchase price plus interest accrued from the date of the Tax Sale.
  • Title to property not redeemed within one year from the date of the tax sale will be transferred to the purchaser on receipt of Land Title Act fee.
  • The purchase of a Tax Sale property is subject to tax under the Property Transfer Tax Act on the fair market value of the property and the purchaser will be responsible to pay the Property Transfer Tax at the time of the transfer of the title.

The Village of Nakusp makes no representation, express or implied, as to the condition or quality of the properties being offered for sale. Prospective purchasers are urged to inspect the properties and make all inquiries to local and other governments to determine the existence of any bylaws, restrictions or other conditions which may affect the value of suitability of the property.
This notice is published in accordance with Section 647(1) of the Local Government Act and is the second of two publications.
